The Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) is a new research and office facility located in South Boston, MA. It occupies a six-story historic structure which was built circa 1913 and originally used as a mercantile building in the local leather trade. With brick walls and exposed steel and timber framing, the building is perfectly suited to showcase ways to incorporate the advanced research and cutting edge technology synonymous with Fraunhofer CSE into an existing building while maintaining the historical character of the building. All new energy efficient building systems will be utilized with a focus using experimental systems that can be tested in a real world application.
