2 Constitution Center

MGH Institute of Health Professions continued their campus expansion with new state-of-the-art physical therapy labs and classroom facilities, located just outside the Charlestown Navy Yard at 2 Constitution Center. This 21,000 SF facility was acquired to accommodate the school’s significant growth; enrollment had doubled in the last seven years to 1,200 students. The new space included an interactive classroom with technology designed to provide the flexibility for small group discussions and information sharing as well as demonstrations by faculty viewed easily by large groups. Classrooms were to no longer be the teacher-centered curriculum. The shift was to a learner-centered classroom that encourages student engagement and allows for collaboration among all present, physically as well as virtually. Technology provides multiple types of interactions among faculty and students in skill demonstrations, capturing interactions for future study.
