2000 Commonwealth Avenue

Boston College

Originally constructed in 1984 as a 17-story apartment building, 2000 Commonwealth Avenue was converted to a student residence hall, housing 540 students in 182 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The scope of work fell into two main categories: code related upgrades and capital improvements. Code related upgrades include renovations required to meet applicable accessibility codes. Existing life safety systems were also upgraded, including a new stair pressurization system, fire alarm and CO detection in the dwelling units. All residential units received new finishes, and community spaces were repurposed into student lounges, including a 17th floor lounge overlooking the Chestnut Hill Reservoir.
