Biotherapeutic research and development headquarters

Since 2018, DiMella Shaffer has partnered with a clinical stage biotech company on a series of projects to adapt to evolving research, development and manufacturing needs. The most recent project is a 60,000 gross square foot fit-out of an existing shell space that creates a new Corporate and R&D headquarters on the second floor of an existing seven-story building in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston.

The project was constructed in a single phase with approximately 35,000 SF of office and meeting space, and approximately 25,000 SF of laboratory space. The office space includes open and closed office spaces, a variety of meeting, collaboration, library and phone room spaces, an IT service core, and a large café that can serve as a town hall space facilitating in person and online gatherings with employee groups at the organization’s multiple facilities.

Key laboratory program elements of the project are Research, Analytical, and Development laboratories, along with dedicated Media Production, Tissue Culture, Instrumentation, Central Glasswash, Sample Processing, and PCR space.
