METiS Therapeutics
METiS Therapeutics, a biotechnology company, acquired space for their headquarters in Cambridgepark Drive’s newest life science campus – a five-story, mixed-use building with floors two through five dedicated to tenant-ready science lab and office space. As the designers of the larger campus, DiMella Shaffer was well-positioned to assist METiS Therapeutics with the interior fit-out of the core and shell research lab and development space.
Within the open office space are meeting rooms, a phone room, an interactive café, and a flexible conference room. The laboratory program focuses on the two primary large and open R&D labs – one dedicated to chemistry, and the other, to biology.
The chemistry R&D lab serves the Medicinal Chemistry Group and includes chemistry-specific designs and elements such as fume hoods with vacuum cabinets, variacs, distillation apparatus, flexible research benches, LCMS, GC, and UV/VIS instrument benches, and liquid handling robots. Additionally, chemical storage, hazardous waste storage, NMR room, equipment rooms, laboratory gas distribution, lab supply, Glasswash, and Autoclave rooms support the chemistry lab.
The biology R&D lab is dedicated to Clinical Pharmacology Research, positioned as an open lab space with flexible research and instrument benches and dedicated fume hoods. Adjacent to the biology R&D lab are a Tissue Culture room, Microscopy space, and flex lab space accommodating evolving research and supporting lab functions.
A write-up space fitted with fully glazed interior partitions separates the lab and open office, allowing primary investigators to monitor the lab space. Both R&D labs and office space have ample lighting and direct access to exterior views of Cambridge and the Alewife Reservation.
